Traverse City, Michigan
For the fiftieth anniversary of their monastery chapel, the Carmelite Nuns of Traverse City desired to beautify their sanctuary to inspire greater piety and a more beautiful liturgy. Additions include shrines to Our Lady, Saint Joseph, Saint Teresa of Avila and Saint John of the Cross, a new altar rail, marble floor and altars, Rinascimento liturgical furnishings, a hand-crafted choir grille with gate, faux-painted plaster capitals, and mahogany woodwork with gold leaf inscriptions. The inscription at the new mahogany Ionic column screen reads “I will bring them to my holy mountain and make them joyful in my house of prayer.” (Isaiah 56:7)
